United Rising to New Horizons
”United Rising to New Horizons” was a YMCA Central project that aimed to empower young Ukrainian refugees in Sweden with a focus on leadership, cultural understanding, and mental well-being. With room for 20 participants, we created a supportive community where young people could forge new connections, grow, and find a sense of belonging.
Through dynamic workshops, participants developed essential leadership skills such as communication, decision-making, and teamwork. We also promoted intercultural understanding by teaching Swedish traditions and social norms, which built empathy and tolerance.
The project was funded by the European Youth Foundation (EYF) in collaboration with the non-profit organization House of Ukraine Stockholm and aimed not only to integrate but also to help young refugees become confident and active members of their new communities.
